Abbeville at 96
Re: Abbeville at 96
I don't pretend to know what is going on at 96...but that is the least competitive football team i have seen over there in a long time. I'm pretty sure we could have scored 100. Not kidding.

Re: Abbeville at 96
Read my post again. Neal went to 96 schools, played football there, coached there and he still lives there. This boy's parents and the booster club knew that if Neal wasn't put out of there he would have that job for decades, that is why he was fired after his first year. This new coach was an assistant for many years at Blythewood and this is his first head job. It's not complicated. Also, Abbeville could score 100 on many teams they play, but they don't. They also don't score 56 on teams but they did Friday night. Why? For Abbeville to score 56 on a team is a statement, they are always very careful to keep the score respectful; not Friday night.96fanatic wrote:they saved the job for 13 years?spectator wrote:I work with a guy from 96 who is "in the know" and he tells me that this new coach is the son of the long time ring leaders of the politics in the booster club. He also said that Neal was fired from 96 for one reason, to save this coaching job for this boy. This boy's mama and daddy knew if Neal stayed for 2 or 3 years he would have the program contending for championships again and he would be there until he retired. It is also unusual for Nickles to beat anyone this bad, maybe he knows the inside too and is making his own statement about it. 96 won't improve under this coach, too many political connections that will determine who plays and who doesn't.Abbevillemike wrote:96 has a lot of work to do. Abbeville could have scored 80 or more if he had wanted to
make a statement.

And Blythewood.he was the offensive cord. For A.C. Flora last year.
Give the guy a couple of years to see if he can get the program
On the right thing track.

It was 49-0 with subs in before halftime. The score was unavoidable.spectator wrote:Read my post again. Neal went to 96 schools, played football there, coached there and he still lives there. My source tells me that this coach is yet another booster club hire and the black community has already solidly rejected him. He says the black community is very upset that they replaced a black head coach with a booster club coach and the kids are not going to play for this guy. He also tells me that this guy can go 5 years without winning a game and he has nothing to worry about, mama and daddy will take care of him. He also said there was no JV team this year and little participation in middle school or park and rec ball. Sounds like the best thing for 96 to do is plow up the football field and sew it in peas.96fanatic wrote:He was an assistant for 96 from 2005-2009.he was also at Lewisvillespectator wrote:Read my post again. Where are these kids playing then? Greenwood? Emerald? Saluda?spectator wrote:My source tells me that this coach is yet another booster club hire and the black community has already solidly rejected him. If the HC can't get that demographic to play there, he'll never be consistent or successful. It's basically a lost cause.
Re: Abbeville at 96
Another question to ask, is how/why does the booster club at a small AA school supposedly have so much pull over who gets hired and doesn't hired? That's a big red flag on its own and if true shows a lack of institutional control.
