IF the HSL rules the game is forfeit, and
IF the score recorded is 2-0, and
IF the first region tie-breaker is points for-against, the regions standings will be:
1) Timberland
2) Phillip Simmons
3) Oceanside
4) Burke
We wont know our seeding untill after the Oceanside findings

If the League doesn’t ban Oceanside from playoffs...then Goose Creek should be awarded rings at the expense of the league as they were the best in 4A DII in 2012!!!!SF Band dad wrote:What are the tie breaking rules in 2A region 6?
As I see it, the most likely action from the HSL will be that Oceanside will have to forfeit the game against Simmons. That will result in a 3-way tie between Oceanside, Timberland and Simmons. If region points-for-against is one of the tie-breakers I think the score recorded for a forfeit will be Simmons 2, Oceanside 0.

If you remember the reason the Goose was banned was because the illegible player suited up for all the games. They forced them to forfeit those games right or wrong (personally I think the SCHSL Executive Committee made a bad decision). This was a one game infraction, so if there are no "other" infractions that have been mention I agree that a one game forfeit should do it. As far as the ring issue for the Goose Creek players of 2012, well they got those rings back in 2013.

I believe only the points allowed in games between the schools tied matter. I that case, Oceanside still gets the 1 since they would still only have allowed 42. The other teams tied will go to head to head to break their tie. Timberland gets the 2 since they beat Simmons head to head.SF Band dad wrote:IF the HSL rules the game is forfeit, and

If it is "points allowed" then you are correct, the standings wouldn't change with a forfeit. The only risk to Oceanside is if the HSL bans them from the playoffs. I think that would be a huge over reaction.bigdog2003 wrote: I believe only the points allowed in games between the schools tied matter. Wasn't the problem at Goose Creek that they had played the ineligible player in the first round playoff game? That forfeit put them out of the playoffs.

They banned Blythewood one year for having 1 practice in pads before they should have, so who knows what they will do.SF Band dad wrote:If it is "points allowed" then you are correct, the standings wouldn't change with a forfeit. with the hsl you never know. Usually it's either too harsh or nothing, no in-between
Re: wont know our seeding untill after the oceanside finding
Dang they had Dutch Fork on TV with helmets and I think shoulder pads during the first 3 days back a few years ago when Singleton’s kid was playing for them. No penalty!! Everyone was in a uproar because it was on tv!!
Re: wont know our seeding untill after the oceanside finding
And remember probably 10 years ago, WSPA was doing an interview during the part of early summer practice where you have to be hitting with only arm pads, and shields, with the head coach at Greer. Clear violation going on in background with no pads, or shields, at all. Greenville turned them in after seeing it on TV. Taped evidence. No penalty from SCHSL. Almost seems as if they hear a rumor, and one isnt one on the favored schools list, you get penalized. If on favored list, one can seem to do about whatever they wantbigdog2003 wrote:They banned Blythewood one year for having 1 practice in pads before they should have, so who knows what they will do.SF Band dad wrote:If it is "points allowed" then you are correct, the standings wouldn't change with a forfeit.
