Easy, just look for the red hats and stay as far away as possible. They have been told that committing crimes is ok as long as you wear a red hat.

I need to head to party city just in time for Halloween. If you see an abnormally large raccoon in your yard, don't shoot me...err...it.

Just give it an extra large edible.

Fact that the matter is participation trophies. Not getting your ass beat. Kids could not handle adiversity. You're not all equal. You do get the same chance but you do not get the same result some people are just better At.shit than you are.
Nobody owes you a damn thing You need to work for it. You don't get a medal for just showing up if you lose you try harder or you find something to do you can do well.
Nothing is anyone else's fault Personal responsibility.
You've been on this crusade for years now about participation trophies.

Let's drill down on this subject.

I wonder if I can move the needle a bit on this subject.

First of all, do you have a personal example of one of your children receiving an award, certificate, or trophy for simply participating in something?

My own son's rec league baseball team was runner up at the end of the year. They played a great, competitive season and was barely beat out at the championship game that year.

The only players who received trophies were the actual winner of that game.
Yes we have a few . But they are in a drawer. North has rec gives everyone a medal then top 2 teams get trophys.
All 1st place and 2nd baseball and football trophies
Stay out .
Sure give thr participation trophy to the
Handicap kids .but not able-bodied.
To be honest Jr had a bad news bear moment .
Je didn't want anything to do with 2nd place trophy
One year. If I can find the pic .he was furious .

These small towns have to adapt or die. It's that blunt, the jobs aren't coming back, people aren't moving in to save them. Whitmire lost their only grocery store recently, will that be the death of the community? Now people have to either drive to Newberry, Clinton, or Union to get groceries. Real estate prices will continue to dip as the older people pass away and nobody is rushing to move in.

It's the same all over the state. Does it suck, yes. But nobody is coming to save any of those people. They have to save themselves.
In order for them to save themselves there has to be a method, a way for them to do that. I don't know of any way for them to do it. Most of these mill villages are old and the houses are not in good repair, they have nothing to build from.
The way they do it is pack up and move. Either that or pray that some person will want to come in and buy houses to fix up the town. But no smart investor is doing that in a town with no jobs, no stores, no anything. Most of these small towns don't have the infrastructure in place even if a investor was interested. Old pipes, bad roads, no high speed internet, not a lot for investors to work with.

You can't just sit in the town talking about the good ole days. Towns have died since the beginning of time, it's nothing new.
Packing up and moving is abandoning the town, not saving it. Towns have died here and there in the past but we have never seen anything like this.

Please, i don't want to get into some pissing contest with you guys over something that is widely known, the fact that impoverished neighborhoods breed violence, i mean, who doesn't understand that as well as understand why? Like i said, it is always easier to point fingers at the oppressed and blame them and that is what we do as a group. Before NAFTA Greenwood was a great place to live with low crime rates and Greenwood Mills plants everywhere. Not anymore. What we saw at the game was a true representation of what the town is becoming. And what changed? The poverty level, that's what changed. And it will only get worse until something is done to reverse it.
Of course, but the manufacturing jobs aren't coming back. Plus, people today don't want to work that kind of job. We have some big manufacturing places over here, Samsung has been here a few years now. All I hear from people that have worked there is "they make you work to hard". IT'S A JOB! If I owned a majority company, where would I want to go? Small town America where the work force doesn't want to work hard for the money, or overseas where the people are glad to work for money?

Work ethic just doesn't exist for a lot of people anymore.
In order to stabilize our nation's economy the manufacturing jobs must come back. Our economy is a 3 legged stool. We have manufacturing, construction and the government. We will never have a robust economy on 2 legs.

Participation trophies just award those who completed the effort and did their best. If you have a high school diploma and weren't the valedictorian your diploma is a participation trophy. If you lettered in any sport but weren't the MVP your letter was a participation trophy.

Kudos to Nuke,

This seems like a very worthy discussion so far.

It’s amazing what we can do as a people when we listen and share worthy ideas.

@Penguin

I’ve mentioned this before I think.

NuclearCav90 is none other than BIGBADCAVDUDE from a decade ago who used to write a weekly preview of that weeks coming games. I mention this because I recall you posting a genuine appreciation to him back in the day.

The two of us have been friends since high school.

I’m hoping I can get him to start that back up so that everything old can be new again.

Dang! Look at the PETA lib in you!

God works in interesting ways.

How much money do you have in these times that you’re feeding the wildlife edibles?

I can’t afford birdseed for the birds much less edibles.

Scotty, no joke. I’ll be at the comdey zone tonight working my 5 newest minutes of material. Can I tell this story?

And again, don’t let this be a setback. If you see any abnormally large racoons (or clowns for that matter-party city doesnt carry racoon costumes) don’t hesitate to throw it an edible.

Not that this is related but my boy is grown and already has a degree and is self sufficient. Even if he wasn’t, the city of Spartanburg would be on the hook. I wouldn’t leave him in your backyard.

Again if you see a large clown in your yard just leave an edible. Actually as clowns go, leave an edible for any skinny ones.

Actually if you see a large one, like a really large and hairy one, leave a whole plate of edibles for him. He couldn’t possibly wind up any more incoherent.

Aight! You have your marching orders.
