City Of Atlanta Preps For 100 Million Dollar Hit

If, as planned, the Big 12, The ACC, and the Sleaze-E-Z, all shelve their early season games, the City of Atlanta will lose 3 huge preseason games during the first 2 weeks of the scheduled season. Florida State vs. West Virginia, Georgia vs. Virginia, and Auburn vs. North Carolina, all would be lost at an estimated cost to the city of somewhere north of 100 Million Dollars in economic impact. Weighing the cost of lost revenue vs. the potential loss of human life, has pretty much assured that these games will not be played as scheduled. Yes, College Football is an economic boon for all involved........except for those who take the field and play the game.....for free so that fat cats, donors, agents, municipalities, concession workers, parking attendants, and even ladies of the night, can support their accustomed lifestyles. Something is dreadfully wrong with our society.

Tuition & fees, room & board, books & supplies at Clemson --
- In state: $28,408 per year
- Out of state: $51,400 per year
To earn that $28K (after taxes, SSI, medicaid) they would have to get a job paying $16 an hour and work 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. They are getting a pretty good deal to be playing the foosball. There's no shortage of kids lining up to take their spot.

And if 1 of "those" kids get hurt, they get a sprained ankle at most. A college athlete could lose tens, or hundreds of millions of dollars. Don't make me drag you through a knothole on this one. I am your Huckleberry. Most athletic scholarships do not pay for books, tutoring, off campus living expenses, off campus meals. Apples are not oranges. And in order to get that education, athletes have to do it in less than half of the free time that regular students do. Practices, games, travel............c'mon man, not even remotely the same thing. Your argument isn't even worth the time that it took for you to write that crap down.

No student athlete would be denied rehab services, even if they were deemed to be 'no longer serviceable'

Where does a scholarship athlete get the guarantee that they will make "millions of dollars"

That hasn't happened in the last never of anything related to college and a scholarship
If you want to compete with an athletic scholarship (or any other scholarship) you have to live on campus and use the cafeteria; or you pay for the off campus housing.... you can still get the meals, but Mikkie D's is on your own dime.
