I completely agree. I would even take it one step further and state that the loser is going to be the 2nd place finisher. I do not believe Bluffton, Beaufort, CC or AR will beat either Summerville or Fort D.

Am I being ugly by suggesting that the winner of the Fort D/Summerville game will be decided by which coaching staff doesn't bone it up the worst?

Sorry. I'm still a little perturbed at the way the end of the SV game was handled. I get the sense that the coaching on the Fort D side is better this year. Am I confused?

Completely confused. Summerville has NEVER lost to the Patriots under the current coaching staff. We certainly have not had the most athletes on the field in several of those matchups but have always came out on top. I attribute at least some of that to coaching. As far as the last two minutes, our FG kicker is solid and all we were trying to do was get into FG range to seal the win. We took our last timeout to attempt the FG. Granted, it was from 47 yards out but was still very makeable. Late in the game Summerville was able to move the ball on the ground but the Knights stepped up and made two great plays on 2nd and 3rd down on our last drive. You would expect the Knights to be thinking downfield passing possible near the sidelines to stop the clock. So, I really had no issue with trying to run the ball at Stratford considering the way the 4th quarter had gone up to that point.

In short, if I could pick a coaching staff out of these two to coach my team for this Friday night, it would be the staff with the winningest football coach in the history of football at any level.

Gotcha!

You know Mike, two things just occured to me...

1) Us upstate posters are apparently quicker to throw our coaches under the bus in a loss. I applaud you standing behind the coaching.

and

2) You were at the game and I wasn't. Don't know why that didn't occur to me sooner but we were all in the truck listening to the game and so there's nuances of what went down that we obviously missed. For one we couldn't understand at first why a timeout was necessary after an onside kick. You'd think you'd have the boys ready to go in case you come up with the ball. But I mused in the truck that you probably had half your offense on the field already to try and get their hands on the ball and that's gonna make it tricky to change out the players and half a play ready too if half the offense is on the sidelines and the other half is on the field.

Either way, there's no doubt Summerville has some really good players this year. Best of luck next week.

Thanks DeCav. And good luck to your Cavaliers as well this week. Something tells me you will be taking on a very hungry and angry Viking squad. I am not sure if Sparty can take back to back losses to Byrnes and Dorman so this Friday should be interesting in the upstate.
