Re: Greenwood
Well regardless of who it is, I'd hope they would want to stay and re-establish the program. Not just some 3 or 4 years an done crap. We need a long term championship coach. Not someone who's going to join, win then retire in 2 years.

Re: Greenwood
Well as far as Cathcart, all you needed to do was look at his Twitter account to see he wasn't coming back. As for the rest of the candidates, just have to have faith in Sparky that he'll choose the best fit.
Re: Greenwood
If it ain't Cathcart, then choose Nickles. He's the most consistent winner. I like Liner and Porter but Nickles is way more consistent. I'm just worried he'll want to retire soon. Then the program will be in the same boat it is now. We don't need to be a program constantly looking for another coach. We're too good for that.

Re: Greenwood
I'm glad District separated the head coaching and the AD jobs because now they can get rid of a coach quickly if that person isn't living up to their expectations.

Re: Greenwood
He (Nickles) is consistent in 1 and 2A. Not 4A and 5A. Need to be more balanced these days in these larger classifications. Porter has won at schools that aren't even football schools. I live in Simpsonville, it ain't no Greenwood where athletes are just running around the community. He is creative, a heck of a motivator; and he can connect with any kid. Doesn't matter what their background is. He won a title at a school that's never done it and never was going to without a special coach. May I add that it has no true football support. My kids went there. Porter before Nickles and Liner for me, but I'd take Nickles over Liner.ManigoEra wrote:If it ain't Cathcart, then choose Nickles. He's the most consistent winner. I totally agree. Porter is a proven coach at non traditional powerhouse schools like Hillcrest and Greenville. Good point, Eagle 93!!!eagle93 wrote:He (Nickles) is consistent in 1 and 2A. It's time. Need to be in before workouts start. I'm excited for a new journey either way.StateChampsGHS wrote:I hope they announce the new coach for both schools next week.eagle93 wrote:I trust that Sparky will make the best choice.

Well.... Porter had a that one ballen team for Hillcrest. But after that......hmmmm.... But you know, he'd be better than pippin so we'll see. As long as the program doesn't regress I'm good.
