Bostick staying busy after draft selection

FLORENCE, S.C. — With the kind of numbers pitcher Akeem Bostick put up at West Florence High School and the number of professional scouts who came to watch him, he knew he would be selected in this week’s Major League Baseball draft.
So when the Texas Rangers took him with the 62 nd overall pick in the second round late Thursday night, it wasn’t a shock. But for the 6-foot-5 right-hander, the moment was surreal all the same. <snip>
The signing bonus slotted for the pick where Bostick was taken is $899,400. But players can be signed for lower or higher than slot value depending on how much money the Rangers used allotted to them for their draft picks in the first 10 rounds.
