VERY Preliminary 45 day count

Post by upstateguy »

These are the schools with over 1,000 students in grades 9-11 for the first 45 days. I should point out that Aiken county for some reason has NOT released enrollment data for their high schools yet.

Notes
Catawba Ridge clocked in with 876.64 students which will make them a solid 4A school next year.
Colleton County is the 48th largest
RNE is the 52nd largest
Westside is the 42nd largest

I mention this because I'm guessing the realignment committee will assign 42, 48 or 52 schools to 5A based on recent history

Here's a map that plots the largest 52. You can turn off the different layers to see how things look with differing numbers of schools.

The Carolina Forest issue isn't as bad this year since 3 other Horry and 1 Florence school made it into the top 40. Sumter could go either to the midlands or to the "Florence/Horry" region.

The geographic distribution almost guarantees an odd number of regions with a "hybrid" region in the midlands.

We need to go 52 deep and split 5A for playoffs.

I've been told to ask where the source of these numbers are from because the previous SCHSL count has Gaffney at 2032 .. from what you have looks like Gaffney has lost 600 students... doubting they've lost that many.

Is that the size of your senior class? This is grades 9-11.

There will probably be adjustments to some schools because of career centers and early college type kids. These numbers are the true head count of kids on campus.

The chair recognizes you're from Gaffney but please go back and try to read the very first sentence. Upon completion please tell me what you read in that first sentence.
