Region 3 is looking like its goin to be a crazy region this year Gaffney went 0-5 to start the season but has caught fire headed into region play and has won the last 2 games. York vs Gaffney has huge region implications especially if Gaffney can win and final beat those pesky Cougars from York. That would have a region showdown at the end of the year with NW to decide the region champ

What we know FOR SURE is that NW will not lose this weekend

The NW team that showed up against York was the best NW team that has played so far this year. Kickoff coverage was excellent. Open field tackling and containment was good. NOT counting any chickens before they come home to roost, but the last two games are shaping up to be two mighty fine weeks.

All my 2 cents worth...........

Clover @ Northwestern
On paper, this is a blowout for NW. On the field, Clover's ability to run the ball could very well give the NW defense fits. The last rushing oriented team was Charlotte Catholic and they moved the ball very well on the ground. They also controlled the time of possession. That being said, the NW offense was still running the spread in that game. Since then, the offense has been totally revamped with Hart as the qb in a wildcat style. NW's size, depth, and athleticism should determine this one in the 2nd half.
Prediction NW 35 Clover 21

Nation Ford @ York
Every game played against Gaffney is a big game, no matter how "down" or "bad" a Gaffney team may be. Coming off the NW game, York had a lot to prove and took it out on Gaffney. Nation Ford should not present York with much difficulty and very well may be a total blowout by halftime.......unless the York kids are overlooking Nation Ford and still resting on their victory over Gaffney. Even then, York should prevail.

Rock Hill @ Fort Mill
In Region 3, this should be the closest game of the weekend. Both teams have their strengths and weaknesses, and as such, it should be an enjoyable game to watch.

Gaffney
Call it upstate bias or "old Region 2" bias, but it just never seems right when Gaffney is not one of the top teams in the state. From my outsider position, all I know about the decline of the program is what I have read on the boards as I have not seen Gaffney play in the last few years. My inclination is that it is time for a new hc/oc/dc combo to come in. By that, I mean bringing a totally different mindset to the program. Maybe even an hc from out of state. Gaffney is, depending on your viewpoint, either blessed or cursed with being a single high school program. Is politics/good-old-boy holding the program back? Byrnes takes full advantage of their singleness. Gaffney should, too.

Going into the last 4 weeks of the season, at least on paper, it looks like NW should run the table and win the region. Unless there is an upset, York would finish 2nd. After that, 3rd on down is definitely not at the level of the top 2 teams.
