SCHL is a Joke

Post by NKOTB »

They have all but ruined football especially for the small towns! To basically make rules for other schools to follow and not all is just a bunch of BS! It has been a ton of players to transfer for athletically reasons only and we see that a brand-new CHARTER SCHOOL (MVP) will basically compete for a state championship year 1! When is someone going to say enough is enough!

The fact that "ANY" school that can get players to fill roles on their squad is able to compete with other schools that can't is a joke.

I don't care if they play up 2 or more levels from the size school they are or not. They still, basically get to go out and recruit the best players who are able to make it to their school

LET SCISA do scisa.

I have a question for you OP. How would you change it so that it's fair to small towns; if you had the power?
Choose to Lead or you should choose to "get out the way" of those who will lead!

Spot on except for one thing. MVP will not be THAT good in year one. A solid team but still a lot of holes. They will be weak on the OL and DL and depth will be a major issue. Seems they will only dress around 30 players. Trust me, they won't be nearly as good as they think they will be. At least four teams in upperstate 3A will be better.

All are better teams across the board this year than MVP.

SCHSL has been a joke for a long time. Any school that isn't a traditional public school should be in their own classification. Maybe an open division where they all go and any public school that wants to join can.

This is the best answer that I have seen to date. Playing up, just moves the problem and doesn't address the problem. Making an OPEN DIVISION and any school not a traditional public school play in that division. Also, since it is OPEN, any school that wants to play in the OPEN DIVISION can ask to join. KEY WORD: ASK to join. Yeah, there would have to be some tweaks, some sort of rules set up... Divisions would need some organization and maybe a RULES COMMITTEE.

I'd like to see other ideas on how this would be set up:

Similar to the A thru AAAAA, with size of the school population or would you just have two divisions, three?

Non-Region games could be against any school that agreed to play them, Public or Open.

Depending on how many teams were involved, maybe just allow all teams in the playoffs (We almost do that now in AAAAA so why not?)

Maybe you can have A thru AAAA in the Public with the OPEN Division.

Maybe, and this is the idea that many coaches have in the NCAA, let football be treated differently than all other sports and just have rules that apply only to football. In NCAA FOOTBALL ONLY, they should have the 64 top teams (current SEC, ACC, BIG TEN, BIG XII) in Division 1A and they compete for a championship, the next 70 (Group of Five) in Division 1AA and they compete for a championship, the next group is the current FCS (N. Dakota State, Furman, Montana, etc and etc.) and they compete for a championship.

After pressing the SUBMIT button, I looked at my start page and saw this link:

It appears that it may be coming sooner than expected for the NCAA.

MVP will beat woodruff
Just beat Pendleton and Seneca in a scrimmage
Woodruff is not better than either of those
Also Broome Chapman Southside Christian and st Joe’s are all better than woodruff.

I would say open division means 1 division. So states do this, and they have 1. I would think there would have to be a minimum number of years a team asking to play in the open division would have to stay. You couldn't let them move back and forth.

Maybe I should type up a proposal and send it the the SCHSL. I doubt they would even open it.
